Day 1
Sampo is the mill of happiness in “The Kalevala” Karelian-Finnish epic, one of the oldest and most famous epics in the world. Sampo was one of the names given to Kostomuksha when it first emerged on the Karelian iron-ore land as a village and then grew into a city. The tour explores the past and present of Kostomuksha. You will learn about the local iron-ore deposit and the mineral processing plant. The visitors are welcome to the observation site of the pit and several departments of the plant.
You will be met by the dressed-up characters, who will entertain you, play games with you, dance with you and have fun with you. Then you will have tea by the fireplace and listen to a New Year fairytale by the candle light.
Day 2
Day 3
During the tour you will learn about the culture and traditions of the Northern Karelians. You will visit barns, church, traditional houses of this Karelian village. You will listen to Kalevala runes and get acquainted with the world-famous “Kalevala” Karelian-Finnish epic. After the tour through the snowy village you will visit with Grandma Masha. She will treat you will tea and tasty pies, tell you a fairy-tale and teach you Karelian fortune-telling. You will also learn the secrets of traditional Karelian cuisine.
